I was walking one day in London and this scene came into view looking up a staircase with a poor gentleman of the street laying lost and staring at the sky, the look on his face of complete emptiness. Coming down the stairs were a couple all young peopler dolled unto the 9’s, ready to go somewhere nice. They were wearing masks. It was an uncomfortable scene but it gripped me and I needed to paint what I saw. It felt like the world had become so far divided and it was wrong. If I sell this painting I will be making a sizeable donation to a homeless charity in London.
